Address Asthma Symptoms with Corrective Chiropractic

Although chiropractic is not a treatment for asthma, many who suffer from it (including children and adults) have reported improvements in symptoms after being under chiropractic care. Science has proven there is a connection between the spinal column, nervous system and respiratory system. This may be why many have reported improved breathing by receiving chiropractic adjustments. Asthma cases seem to be rising at an alarming rate. Some think it is due to a combination of factors, many being the increase use of chemicals in our environment.

Chiropractic Care for Asthma

Your diaphragm is the primary muscle used for breathing. The nerves that control your breathing start in the brain and exit the spinal cord at the mid neck (C3-C5). Vertebral subluxations (misalignments) in this area can have a lasting effect on the communication from the brain to the diaphragm. Reducing these vertebral subluxations can then help improve and restore proper nervous system control of the lungs, and chiropractic care may help reduce the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. In fact, research from the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research found that 81 children with asthma who received chiropractic care revealed a 45% decrease in the number of “attacks” and 31% of subjects chose to decrease their medication use.

Like mentioned before, we do not cure asthma, but if we do find subluxations and they are the cause of their symptoms, chiropractic care can be beneficial. If you have any questions or would like to request an appointment, we would love to help!
