The goal of our spine rehab and exercises at Align is to support chiropractic adjustments by allowing structural change to happen QUICKLY. Every practice member is taught specific rehab exercises based on the structural issue going on in his/her body. They are extremely simple but effective exercises that take anywhere from 2-10 minutes to complete.
The aim of the exercises is to stretch and strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine, which helps in correcting posture. For example, one of the simple exercises practice members do is called “wobbling.” Maybe you’ve seen a wobble cushion before. It’s very similar to an exercise ball (without the risk of falling off of it!). This exercise is great for the core muscles surrounding the spine in the lower back, but most importantly, it is extremely effective in keeping discs in the spine hydrated. We always say—movement is life. On the wobble cushion, the goal is to get moving!
There are several other exercises that focus on correcting structural problems in the neck, middle back, lower back, and pelvis. In order to correct structural problems in the spine, rehab exercises are mandatory to make it happen.
